Tooth Extractions at Rivergum Smiles
Mill Park Dentist is Here to Help
While it’s always our goal to help our patients protect and restore their natural teeth, there are situations when removing a tooth may be the best option for their oral health. From emergency dental extractions to wisdom tooth removal, we have your best interest and comfort in mind.
When a Tooth Should be Removed
What to Expect at Your Appointment
First and foremost, we want to ensure that you’re comfortable during your tooth removal. In addition to numbing the area around the extraction site, we also offer nitrous oxide sedation to help you relax.
We’ll provide you with written instructions to follow as you recover. Some of the most basic things to keep in mind are to avoid smoking, using a straw or participating in extensive exercise the first few days after surgery. Our providers are available after your procedure to address any concerns. Most of our patients are able to go back to work or school the next day.
After Your Extraction
When a tooth has been removed, the space left behind allows the surrounding teeth to drift out of place or become misaligned. Even the opposing tooth on the opposite arch can start to erupt further out of the socket. As such, we recommend replacing your extracted tooth in a relatively short time frame following your oral surgery. Restorations such as implants, bridges or a removable partial are a few options to consider.
